2008 Judge : Debbie Quick
“A picture is worth a thousand words”
Debbie Quick is a storyteller - only she relates stories that speak for themselves, created through her art. She physically constructs her stories which speak of emotional interactions and reactions experienced during intense social exchanges. By drawing inspiration from her own observations, she then seeks to "sculpt them into stories." Debbie comments, "I explore the pain and discomfort of social interactions through the visual narratives I make." |
Receiving her MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University and her BFA from Temple University, Quick continues to exhibit her body of work through participating in numerous juried, group, and solo exhibitions. Her work can also be found in many private and public collections.
Working with the Awards Committee, Quick will be on site to judge work from the 2008 participating artists and will speak at the Artist Awards Ceremony. She is the
Administrative Director and an Assistant Professor of
Craft Material Studies at
Virginia Commonwealth University. Debbie has also taught at various art institutions in the North East, including courses on ceramics, sculpture, mixed media, and more. For more information the judge, please visit www.debbiequick.com.
